Tree Folk acknowledges the historic and continuing inequities in land access for California’s Native people, who have been unjustly denied rights to traditional gathering areas. Through in-kind donations, monetary support, and education we actively promote the rights of Native communities to reclaim their harvesting areas and food traditions.

We also acknowledge the widespread historic dispossession of Black farmers and landowners by the USDA and other institutions. That is why we source our pecans from an historic Black farm in Southwest Georgia that was formed in response to these damaging discriminatory land and lending practices.

We support fair trade and organic agriculture in our ingredient purchasing whenever we can.
